The Crazy Never Die have an array of different sounds for a band with a fairly short existence. With just one EP and one album, they have produced powerful political hard rock , defiant, fast paced punk songs and sweeping experimental instrumentals. Now they have turned to acoustic experimentation with outstanding results. A Thousand Clowns was originally supposed to have a much bigger, louder arrangement. While the band was writing new material on acoustic instruments they tried this song out with soft instrumentation and found the song took on new life. It starts as a simple folk song for guitar, melodica and voice but ends with a colorful sonic landscape. Since it mixes such different styles it's hard to classify but I imagine that's fitting for a song about non-conformity.
